Power BI Masterclass - 2 Day course
Our Masterclass Power BI training course is suitable for general Excel Intermediate – Advanced users who are also competent computer users.
Masterclass Course Outline
Day 1
- Brief overview of the tools (Power BI Service, Power BI Desktop, Power BI Mobile) and comparison with Power Query and Power Pivot
- Overview data importation
- Preview of the example report that will be created during the training
- Explore the desktop interface: Report, Data and Model views, Visualizations panel, etc
- Connect data using Direct Query and importing
- Clean data using Query Editor: filter, remove rows, replace vales etc.
- Edit, rename and delete the applied steps – create calculated columns
- Format Charts – adding data label and hiding axis
- Format table and matrix visualisation – conditional formatting
- Format and save PBIX file’s
- Common issues and best practises for deigning a report (e.g., Themes, illustrations, Filters (including slicers, field filters,
- Top N, page filters v report filters), generating drill through pages, exploit pane selections, cross high lighting, grouping visualisations etc..
Day 2
- Modelling data: Build the Data Model by creating relationships between the different data sources
- Producing calculated columns in the model vs Power Query
- Generating and exploiting hierarchies
- Generate a parameter table
- Generate the Date Table e.g., auto dates setting, sorting, generate a date table using ‘M’, date hierarchy drill down charts, active and inactive relationships between the date table and your transaction data, Relative date slicers
- Understand Measures (implicit & explicit) and organise into 1 ‘folder’
- Create and edit DAX functions: COUNTX and COUNTROWS, CALCULATE with USERELATIONSHIP, SELECTEDVALUE and ISFILTERED
- DAX aggregate functions and report titles
- Publishing Power BI reports: save as PDF, publish to Power BI Service and view the published report
This course aims to firstly introduce users to Power BI and teach users how to import, clean, connect and export data. You will also go over common issues and learn how to generate different tables as well as create and edit different DAX functions.
On completin of the course, you will be able to create data models and make your own Power BI reports.

MS Forms Surveys and Power BI - 1 Day Course
Our Forms surveys and Power BI training course is suitable for general Excel Intermediate – Advanced users who are also competent computer users.
Course Outline
- Designing forms in MS Forms and collecting responses
- Connecting Power BI to the survey responses
- Using Power BI to clean and transform the data
- Handling multi-choice questions
- Creating the Power BI interactive report
- Publishing the report and automatically refreshing when more responses are received.
Delegates will discover how to integrate MS Forms (online survey creator) with Power BI for a great way to visualise survey results.
By the end of the workshop delegates will be able to create surveys and connect them to Power BI. They will also be able to clean & transform data. Finally delegates will be able to publish reports and automate response updates.
